Rock Spot Practices

Open Practice Schedule and Logistics

A couple times a week, we take a trip to Rock Spot: Brookline to rock climb. Everyone is welcome to join us for these events (even if you’re not “officially a member of the club”–whatever that means anyway). Feel free to stay for as much or as little of the scheduled practice time as you’d like. One of us will be somewhere around the gym for the duration of these practices if you ever need help or just someone to climb with.

Our recurring open practice times at Rock Spot are on Thursdays @ 6:15pm & Sundays @ 4:15pm. Please make sure to fill out the waiver in advance.

Spontaneous trips may also be organized in the Messenger group chat, so stay tuned! Rock Spot Brookline only has bouldering and offers shoe rentals, which is provided for free with the day pass.

Directions and Transportation

Rock Spot: Brookline is located at 880B Commonwealth Ave, Brookline, MA 02446. There are a couple of ways to get there:

  • Bike/Scooter (Recommended): The gym is about 10 minutes away. We meet up in front of the blue bike station in front of Maseeh 15 minutes before our practices and take the path along the Esplanade (next to the river) to arrive to Rock Spot together. We wait for 5 minutes until we leave. The gym has two bike racks to lock your bike/scooter.
  • Walking: The gym is about 25-35 minutes away by walking, depending on where you live and your walking speed.

Pricing

For members of MIT Climbing Club that are 23 & under, monthly memberships are $69. For members over 23 years of age, monthly memberships are $79. All memberships include gear. There is no commitment period, so you can cancel at any time. If you’d like to take advantage of the reduced rate, follow these steps:

  1. Join the engage group. This is how we tell Rock Spot that you’re a member of the club so you can get access to the discounted memberships and day passes.
  2. Sign up for a Rock Spot membership using this exclusive link.

Without a membership, day passes (with gear included) are $15 during our practices. You still must be part of the engage group to take advantage of this discounted day pass.

We know that our sport is an expensive one. If the cost of climbing poses a financial burden, please do not hesitate to reach out to us for financial assistance. We have limited funds available to help subsidize the cost of climbing.
